Should a Chef's Body Size be an Issue?

I saw this article online a couple days ago and I haven't been able to get it out of my head. A chef with her own cooking show has been accused of getting too heavy for television purposes. I had to blog about it to get it off my chest.

According to Page 6 a few days ago the New York Post has claimed to have spies in the Food Network that reported an on-air host, Nigela Lawson, has put on too much weight to be shown from the waist down. In the article NOT AS TASTY the chef was asked to lose some weight before she can be shown in entirety.
I personally don't feel this is right because a chef is suppose to sample the foods as they prepare it to make sure it is coming out right. Also, isn't there a saying about never trusting a skinny chef? Just because she may have put on a few pounds from doing a COOKING show and isn't as skinny as some other on-air hosts doesn't mean she needs to be penalized.
What do you think?

I think this is ridiculous, just as much as I think the saying "don't trust a skinny chef" is ridiculous.

Chefs come in all sizes and shapes and create all kinds of different cuisines that cater to all sorts of different people. Unless you want to bring out the Food Police to dictate what people can eat, no one should point fingers at anyone. We all have free will to control our own lives and waistlines.

There....

Welcome to The Foodie Blogroll! Where we feature all kinds of cuisines for all different kinds of people from all different kinds of cooks! Long live variety! It IS the spice of life, afterall! :)

I think it's ridiculous too...one of the reasons I love Nigella is because she is not perfect--nor does she try to be...she is real...and I think she is beautiful...and I have an idea the men think she is gorgeous as well and I imagine they find her very sensuous.....she is, as she described herself,: bosomy and bottomy....what's not to like about that? So what if she is not a size 0, or 2,4,6,8,10,12,14, or whatever...It really irritates me that our society is so shallow...and forget the health angle...very reliable studies are showing that those with extra pounds live longer and are more likely to survive serious illness....Dr. Andrew Weil has pointed this out as well as many other credible people. So there!

In this case, size should certainly NOT be an issue! Nigella is a wonderfully talented cook, show hostess and continues to inspire myself and many others. I love her candid, free wheeling type of delivery. So funny to think that a network rejects the idea of a "real" looking women. Who made them king, or queen (sorry Jen).

I say, on with the show!
